EDDYVILLE - The Central Lee Hawks fell to 0-7 on the year with a 48-7 loss to Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont Friday night.

The Hawks trailed by just a couple scores in the first quarter after surrendering two touchdown runs. With a PAT miss, the Hawks were down just 13-0 after the first quarter.

But the Rockets' (2-5) special teams showed up in the second period putting up two touchdowns, including a kick-off return for a score and punt return for a score in the quarter.

Central Lee got on the board in the second period with a 52-yard touchdown strike from Bryce Finney to Maddox Doty. Dante Merschman added the point-after to make it 20-7 with 4:48 left in the half. However, the two special teams plays came after the Hawks score and EBF also scored on a touchdown run with 7:37 to go in the quarter to take a 33-7 halftime lead.

They would add another rushing touchdown and an interception return for a touchdown in the third period to set the final score at 48-7. Neither team would score in the fourth period with the continuous clock running.

Finney was 10-27 for 109 yards with a TD and pick on the night. Finney also had 32 yards on five carries. Doty had 59 yards on two catches and Tanner DeMoss had 19 yards on a couple catches for the Hawks.

Brody Fuller had 6.5 tackles to lead the Hawks on defense. Corbin Pohren had five tackles on the night for Central Lee.
