Central Lee girls bow out in four-set affair with Lady Falcons

WEST BURLINGTON - The Central Lee Hawks couldn't capitalize on a first set 25-20 win over Class 3A No. 10 West Burlington in Region 6 volleyball post season action Monday night.

The Hawks would drop the final three sets 15-25, 21-25, 21-25 to end their season at 16-11 with a 5-3 Southeast Iowa Superconference record.

Makayla Morrison had 29 kills, 27 digs and a block assist in the loss. Meghan Hopp had 20 kills, 13 digs and five block assists.

Macy Watkins had eight kills, five digs, two block assists, and a team-leading 56 assists. Watkins had 716 assists on the year which was second best in the conference behind Jenna Bentz of Burlington Notre Dame with 794.

Maura Watkins had five kills and a block assist and Alivia Myhre had five kills and an ace. Alix Congdon had 26 digs, while Karissa Moeller had eight digs, Sophie Turner had five digs and an ace, and Kelsie Stewart had six digs.

Hopp and Macy Watkins were second and third in the SEISC in total blocks with 85 and 65. Hopp was second in solo blocks at 33 behind West Burlington's Sophia Armstrong.

Hopp had a kill efficiency of .390 and junior Makayla Morrison was right behind at .361 to finish second and third in loop play.

West Burlington (29-3) will tangle with Davis County (31-10) on Wednesday in the Region 6 semis. The winner will face the winner of West Liberty and Mid-Prairie next Tuesday.
