Roland E. Weirather, 85, of Keokuk, IA, passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, IA.

He was born on September 23, 1936 in Keokuk, IA, the son of Leo and Alberta (Cale) Weirather.  Roland graduated from Montrose High School with the Class of 1955.  He loved baseball and was a pitcher for the Montrose Mohawks, who also went to state.

Roland served in the Army National Guard for six years.

On May 18, 1963, Roland was united in marriage to Mary Boudewyn of Keokuk.  She survives.

Other survivors include his daughter Shelly (Todd) England of Argyle, his son, Shane (Windi) Weirather of Keokuk, four grandsons, Kane (Kaylyn) Pauley, Gabriel Pauley, Garret Weirather and Grant Weirather, two great-grandchildren, Hank Pauley and Grace Pauley.  He is also survived by two brothers, Gerald (Joyce) Weirather of Keokuk, and Norman (Judy) Weirather of Nowata, OK, many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Roland was a proud farmer all his life.  It was work he loved. 

He enjoyed spending time with the guys, playing cards and drinking coffee at the local coffee shop.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk.  Burial will be at a later date.

Visitation will be held after 1 p.m., Tuesday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with the family meeting with friends from 6 – 8 p.m.
