Central Lee boys shut out by Danville

DONNELLSON - The Central Lee boy junior high school football team took it on the chin last week with a 20-0 loss at Danville.

Gage Van Ausdall had two catches for 27 yards and ran for 31 on six carries in the loss. Will Hayes and Brody Moeller each had six tackles on the night.

“This was probably the worst we have been on the offensive side of the ball all season but our players played very good defense at times in this game. The strength, size, and speed of the Danville team was impressive, said head coach Kritter Hayes.

"The few good drives we put together came to an end with unfortunate turnovers, which resulted in giving the ball to Danville with good field position. It wasn’t often this season that we were undersized - this was one of them. This group will do great things moving forward. It was a pleasure to coach these kids.

"The 7thgrade class is very talented and the 8thgraders are strong. They are committed to improvement and as a new coach in the district, that is very exciting.” – Coach Kritter Hayes

“Our last game was a tough one, playing against some big players from Danville. We fought until the final play of the game. We witnessed improvement each week in many aspects of the game since we started this season. We had a good season. It was a good building block for Central Lee HS and MS football for seasons to come.” – said coach Kent Brisby.

Owen Swan was 3 of 10 throwing for 32 years. Max Jones had a five yard catch and Brett Cook carried once for two yards. Kenny McFadden, Jones and Cook each had three tackles in the loss.

In the 5th quarter, Carver Hayes had eight yards and rushing TD on three carries. Ward Fraise threw a 10-yard scoring strike to Swab and Moeller had a touchdown on 12 yards in carries. Austin Fogarty had a pick and Jack Benner had two tackles.

The 7thgrade ended their season 4-2, while the eighth graders finished their season 2-4.
