Ronald “Doc” Ambrose Hogan, 86, of Nauvoo, Illinois, passed away at 12:52 p.m. Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center, in West Burlington, Iowa.
He was born on March 16, 1935, in Appanoose Township, Hancock County, Illinois, the son of Ambrose and Emeline (Moore) Hogan. On June 25, 1955 he married Joan Marie Falk at the Saints Peter & Paul Church in Nauvoo, Illinois. 
Survivors include his wife: Joan; five children: Ron (Amy) Hogan of Saint Louis, Missouri, Don (Jeanne) Hogan of Fort Madison, Iowa, Judy (Pat) Hayes of Palmer, Alaska, Susan (Tom) Walljasper of Fort Madison, Iowa, Debra (Jim) Hurt of Augusta, Illinois; 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; and 2 brothers: Leonard Hogan and Patrick Hogan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Richard and David, and one grandson: Thomas Walljasper.
Doc was a graduate of the Saints Peter and Paul High School in Nauvoo. He retired from J.I. Case in Burlington, Iowa.   
Doc was very active in the Boy Scouts of America  serving as both the Cub Master for pack 56 and Scout Master for troop 56 for many years. He also volunteered countless hours at Camp Eastman. He was especially proud of his “Eagle Scouts.”  He was always available to anyone in need and frequently opened his home as a safe place for others.  He served on the Nauvoo Fire Department. Doc enjoyed camping, motorcycles and being with his family and friends.  He is best remembered for being “Doc”.
Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 29, 2021 at the Schmitz-Banks & Beals Funeral Home where family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 30, 2021 at the Appanoose Township Cemetery, near Niota, Illinois, with Fr. Tony Trosley and Pastor Mark Anderson officiating.
A memorial has been established in his memory for the Saints Peter & Paul School.
