Derik Jacob Estrada, 32, of Ft. Madison passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at 7:24 AM at his home.
He was born on September 23, 1989 in Ft. Madison to William and Lesley Hayes Estrada. Derik was a 2008 graduate of Ft. Madison High School. On August 25, 2012 he married Erin Price and they later divorced. Derik was currently a correctional officer at the Iowa State Penitentiary. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting and playing washers. He was also an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan, especially wrestling and football. Derik enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his son Elliot.
Survivors include one son, Elliot Estrada of Ft. Madison; his parents, William and Lesley Hayes Estrada, three brothers, Billy Estrada, Nicholas Estrada and Dylan Estrada all of Ft. Madison; maternal grandmother, Peggy Hayes of Ft. Madison; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; step children, Zeke and Ella Groves. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Wig Hayes; his paternal grandparents, Matthew and Amelia Estrada; a half-brother, Raymond Thornburg and two sisters in infancy
Friends may call after Noon on Monday, November 1, 2021 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory where the family will meet with friends from 3-5 PM. There will be a funeral Service held at 5 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Chad Savage officiating immediately following the visitation.
