Area man killed in Tuesday night collision

LEE COUNTY - A second, separate accident Tuesday has claimed the life of another motorist in Lee County.

Emergency crews were called to the scene of an accident Tuesday night at about 6:25 p.m. on Green Bay Road four miles south of 190th Street where an SUV had collided with an agriculture tractor. The vehicle ended up in the south ditch with heavy damage.

Lee County Sheriff Stacy Weber said the male driver of the SUV was confirmed dead at the scene, but the name was not released pending notification of family.

Emergency crews from Wever Fire & Rescue, Denmark Fire & Rescue, West Point Fire & Rescue, Donnellson Fire & Rescue, Lee County EMS Ambulance, Lee County Sheriff's Office, and the Iowa State Patrol responded to the scene.

The accident was the second fatality on Lee County Roads Tuesday. An unnamed female was killed at about 1:20 p.m. on Hwy. 218 when she was struck turning northbound from J40 west of West Point onto Hwy. 2218 by a semi-trailer.

The woman was also pronounced dead at the scene.

Both accidents remain under investigation.
