Margie Elizabeth (Fraise) Young, 91, of Nauvoo, Illinois, passed away Monday, November 15, 2021 at 10:59 p.m. at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in Fort Madison.
Born on September 26, 1930 the daughter of Stacey and Marie (Merschbrock) Fraise in West Point, Iowa. On November 12, 1949 she married Albert Ray Young at Saint Mary the Assumption Catholic Church in West Point. He preceded her in death on August 22, 2015.
She is survived by three daughters: Linda (Mike) Parker of Rome, Iowa, Barb (Dan) Schmitz of Olathe, Kansas, Patty (Mike) Haigh of Nauvoo, Illinois; 10 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; two sisters: Karen (Eldon) Ripperger of Burlington, Iowa, Janice (John) Ripperger of Burlington, Iowa and one brother Carroll (Dorothy) Fraise of West Point, Iowa.
She is preceded in death by her husband and her son Michael on January 1, 2016.
Margie was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church of Nauvoo. She was employed at Flora Thums of Niota, Illinois, IRC of Burlington, Iowa, Methode of Carthage and Riverview Supper Club. She was an avid reader, loved flowers and birds. Most of all she enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family will meet with friends from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 22, 2021 at the Schmitz-Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Nauvoo.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 22, 2021at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Nauvoo with Father Thomas Szydlick as celebrant.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in West Point, Iowa.
A memorial has been established in her memory to Nauvoo Fire & Rescue.
