Richard Lee Fett, 76, of rural West Point, Iowa, passed away at 5:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at his home.

He was born on June 2, 1945, in Monona, Iowa, the son of Charles and Dorothy (Huff) Fett. On April 18, 1970, he married Joyce Walljasper.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-one years: Joyce; his son, the light of his life: Travis Fett; sister: Marge (Bob) Schmidt of Monona, Iowa and brother: Chuck (Sandy) Fett of Jamesville, Wisconsin. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Charles and Dorothy; brother: Gary (Joan) Fett of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and sister: Darlene (Gordie) DeSotel of Dallas City, Illinois.

Richard was a 1963 graduate of Monona High School. He served in the United States Marine Corps. During his service in the Marines, he earned a marksmanship medal,specialized in morose code and had secret clearance. He was a member of the West Point American Legion Holtz – Geers Post #668, the Farm Bureau and a lifetime member of the NRA. Richard had worked for West Point Feed and drove a semi for S&H and and Ruan both of West Burlington, driving over a million miles with no accidents! He was avid Iowa Hawkeye Football fan and enjoyed hunting ducks and pheasants.

Friends may call after 12:00 noon, Thursday, December 2, 2021, at Schmitz Funeral Home in West Point, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. that evening.

Following the visitation, his body has been entrusted to the crematory of Schmitz Funeral Home for cremation.

Burial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established in his memory for West Point Fire and Rescue or Southeast Iowa Regional Home Health and Hospice.
