DONNELSON - Some more stellar defense lifted the Central Lee Lady Hawks to a hard fought win over previously unbeaten Winfield-Mt. Union Friday night at Central Lee.

The Lady Hawks overcame 16 points from senior Jobey Malone, eight in each half and trailed by a point for the final three minutes before outscoring the Wolves 4-1 in the final minute to steal the win 40-38.

Central Lee would push the lead to five at 29-24 in the third period, but again Winfield would put together a couple back-to-back scoring possessions to tie the game at 31 going into the final period.

The Lady Hawks had three players in double figure scoring led by Alivia Myhre's 14 including two 3rd quarter 3-balls.. Makayla Morrison had three 3-pointers enroute to her 11. Mya Lampe also had 11 points for Central Lee.

Macy Watkins chipped in with four points on the night.

The Hawks are off until Friday when they host cross county rival Holy Trinity Catholic in a boys/girls varsity doubleheader starting at 6 p.m.
