Bruce J. Scott, 70, of Keokuk, passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2021, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri.

Bruce was born on February 18, 1951, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Flossie (Stewart) Scott. He graduated from Keokuk Senior High in 1970, and on September 20, 1974, he was united in marriage to Kathryn Ann Huls at the Hamilton United Methodist Church in Hamilton, Illinois. She survives.

Bruce attended the 1st Lutheran Church in Keokuk and was a member of the NRA and the Hancock County Gun Club. In 1984, he opened Scott’s Gun Shop, which he operated for many years. He also worked at Keokuk Area Hospital in security as well and served in the Keokuk Police Reserve. Bruce was a man of many talents and eclectic hobbies. He loved to be outdoors hunting and fishing, hauling gravel or operating his dump truck and bulldozer. He was a collector of anything and everything, and never found anything he couldn’t fix. Bruce’s family will remember him as a strong, self-made man, but most importantly a man who loved people, especially his family. He attended all of his grandchildren’s sports games and was always quick to help those in need.

Bruce is survived by his wife Kathryn Scott of Keokuk; two sons: Christopher (Stacy Quinn) Scott of Keokuk and Lucas (Kiernan) Scott of Omaha, Nebraska; seven grandchildren: Adonis, Noah, Sylas, Ezekiel, Eli and Ryker Scott and Alliyah Current; seven siblings: Roy (Robin) Scott of Keokuk, Joy Scott of Keokuk, Gail Scott of Macomb, Illinois, Lucretia Scott of Keokuk, Vicki (Rev. John Henry) Mims of Quincy, Joe (Jackie) Scott of Keokuk, and Blanche Joann Muhammed of Illinois; and his sister-in-law Gloria Scott of Des Moines, Iowa. Other survivors include numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bruce is preceded in death by his parents and four siblings: Stuart Scott, Clarence Scott, Peachy Dade and Sue Clayton.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Friday, December 31, 2021, at DeJong-Greaves-Printy Funeral Home in Keokuk, Iowa, with burial to follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in rural Carthage, Illinois. Visitation will be held on Friday from 11 am to 2 pm at the funeral home directly preceding the service.
