Richard “Rich” Ahlen, 52 years, of Burlington, Iowa died at 3:59 pm Friday, December 31, 2021 at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center, West Burlington, Iowa.  He was born February 28, 1969, a son of Gerald “Jerry” Ahlen and Judy (Swanson) Ahlen.  On May 10, 1997, he married Crystal Stephenson.  She preceded him in death. 

Rich attended Fort Madison High School.  He worked as a supervisor at Winegard in Burlington for 15 years.  He was always busy fixing and building things, and he enjoyed woodworking.

He is survived by his mother and step father, Judy and Mike Sammons of Neosho, Missouri; his girlfriend, Jenean Brockett of Burlington; four children: Blake (Elizabeth) Keever of Burlington; Brittany Ahlen (Jared Siefken) of Niota, Illinois; Chrissa Ahlen of Burlington; Elie Ahlen of Niota; four siblings: Brenda (John) Coleman, Craig (Bobbie) Ahlen, Michelle (Nick) Kruse, and Stacey (Justin) Payne; five grandchildren: Zahra, Zander, Landen, Salem, and Luke; the Stephenson family: Marion, Michael, Matthew (Amanda), Billy, and Kathy (Brad); and numerous other family members and friends.  He was preceded in death by his father, wife, mother-in-law Judy Stephenson and brother-in-law Jason Stephenson.

Visitation will be held 10:00 - 11:00 am Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, Iowa.  A Funeral Service will following and begin at 11:00 am Tuesday morning at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Luder, officiating.  Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison.  Donations to help cover the funeral costs may be made out to and mailed to Barr Memorial Chapel, 1919 Ave F, Fort Madison, Iowa 52627.  Barr Memorial Chapel is honored to serve the Ahlen family and an online guest book may be found at www.barrmemorialchapel.com.
