Board seats open on city commisssions

FORT MADISON - The City of Fort Madison has openings on four boards and commissions including the Planning and Zoning Commission.

The commission plays an important role in what development is allowed throughout town. Currently the commission is considering revamping the zoning districts and code and has the ability to change what is allowed in different areas of town.

The duties of the commission including zoning code and district changes, compliance review of planned developments and subdivisions, and review and update of Fort Madison’s Comprehensive Plan.

The commission meets on the fourth Tuesday of month and as needed and scheduled. Members must reside in Fort Madison city limits and serve on the five-member board for three year terms.

Applications can be found at www.fortmadison-ia.com or through the City Clerk’s office at 811 Avenue E.  This application process is an effort to ensure diversity and representation of our community.  Interested persons should submit completed applications to the City Clerk’s office during regular business hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  All applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
