DONNELLSON - Brayden Wyrick led Central Lee with 10 points as the Hawks continue to look for their first win of the season.

The Hawks fell 54-38 to West Burlington on senior night to fall to 0-12 on the year and 0-10 in Southeast Iowa Superconference play.

Head Coach Kritter Hayes said he continues to see improvement in play and the seniors had a solid night.

"We haven't stopped working to improve and our players are all in. When you aren't winning on the scoreboard, it can be challenging to keep the energy up and focus. It is a credit to our players and everyone involved in their lives," Hayes said.

"Our practices are positive and upbeat. We are focused on showing our improvements...cutting down our turnovers, being more efficient on the offensive end and playing good defense. It showed up last night against a solid WB team who beat us by 30 plus earlier in the season."

Central Lee trailed by 10 after the first quarter, but cut into the Falcons' lead for a 27-21 halftime deficit. The Hawks held West Burlington to just eight points in the third quarter, but only scored four of their own to allow the lead to slip away.

The Hawks also shot just 1 of 11 from the free throw line on the night.

Corbin Pohren and Alex Sandoval each had seven for the Central Lee. Maddox Doty added six, while Bryce Finney scored five and Cory Jones added three to round out the scoring for Central Lee.

Austin Applegate led West Burlington (6-4, 6-6) with 14 points. Brady Martin had 12. Central Lee takes on Danville tonight on the road. The Bears are 8-1 in Southeast Iowa Superconference play and 10-1 overall.
