HTC boys get road win over Van Buren

KEOSAUQUA - Holy Trinity got a season-high 17 points from senior Mikey DiPrima and rallied for a 62-52 win over Van Buren in Southeast Iowa Superconference basketball action Tuesday night.

The Crusaders put up 45 points in the second half to race by the Warriors behind DiPrima's 11.

Holy Trinity got into a hole early trailing by six two minutes into the game and couldn't close the distance in the first half trailing by as much as seven before inching closer for a 27-22 halftime deficit.

HTC started to close the gap in the third quarter again outscoring Van Buren 12 to 11 in the period to cut the lead to four at 38-35.

Van Buren's Jackson Manning went to work in the fourth scoring 11 of the Warriors' 14 points to try and seal the game, but the Crusades erupted for 28 points in the final period highlighted by a 16-21 effort from the free throw line to put the game away.

Manning would finish with a game-high 26 points.

HTC had three players in double figures led by DiPrima. Connor Gehling had 12 and Tyler Snaadt had 11 for HTC.

The Crusaders improve to 3-7 in conference play and 3-11 overall with the win. They play host to West Burlington on Friday night at Shottenkirk Gym.
