Friday robbery leads to several arrests

FORT MADISON - A robbery in progress reported to Fort Madison Police at around 3:15 p.m. in the 1900 block of Avenue G on Friday has resulted in several arrests.

According to Fort Madison Police Chief Mark Rohloff, who said the incident is still under investigation, the suspects fled on foot after officers arrived on the scene at about the time children were being released from local schools.

After a search of the area, several suspects were apprehended by officers with the Fort Madison Police Department along with deputies with the Lee County Sheriff's Department.

Rohloff said interviews are still being conducted at this time, but couldn't provide any other details due to the nature and preliminary status of the investigation.

The names of those arrested were not released.
