George K. Brown, 67, of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa died Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at the Henry County Health Center, Mt. Pleasant.  He was born March 7, 1954, a son of Laborn and Ruby Faye (Atwell) Brown.  He married Julie Ilmberger, they had two children, Amanda and Ryan.  They later divorced.

George attended Fort Madison High School.  He served in the United States Army.  For years he worked at Fruehauf as a certified welder.  He earned his Computer Science Degree from Southeastern Community College.  He worked at Dodd Printing and then moved to Kansas City where he worked in IT at Gateway 2000.  George was a die hard Chicago Cubs fan, he shot pool, and did woodworking.  He loved cooking and grew vegetables in his garden and shared them with family and friends.  George loved his family especially his grandkids.

He is survived by his daughter, Amanda Brown of Mt. Pleasant; three siblings: Wessley (Violet) Brown of San Antonio, Texas; Judy Rotchford of Havelock, North Carolina; and Deborah Armstrong of Donnellson, Iowa; three grandchildren: Samantha, Dani, and Van Crawford and their father, Jeremy; nieces and nephews; his former wife, Julie, and husband, Steve Long; and numerous other relatives.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Ryan, five siblings: Liz, Karen, Roger, Seldon, and Steve; and his dog, Girlfriend.

His family will greet friends from 4:00 - 6:00 pm Friday evening, February 4, 2022 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison.  Donations to help cover his cremation services may be made out to and mailed to Barr Memorial Chapel, 1919 Ave F, Fort Madison, Iowa 52627.
