Steffes Auctioneer to compete at Iowa Corn Classic Open next week

Wever’s Mason Holvoet was named Reserve Champion in the Iowa Auctioneers Association Auctioneer’s Contest.  The contest took place in West Des Moines, Iowa, during the Iowa Auctioneers Association Annual Convention on February 5, 2022.  Holvoet, the 2020 IAA Rookie Bid Calling Champion, competed against 15 auctioneers from across the Midwest for the 2022 Iowa State Champion Auctioneer title.

“It was an honor to be named Reserve Champion especially competing against so many great auctioneers,” said Holvoet.  “The contest really is a showcase of the live bid call, and I’m glad that I was a part of it.”

Being named Reserve Champion was no small feat, as five judges critiqued Holvoet’s chant, speed, salesmanship, and presentation.

Mason is employed with Steffes Group, Inc., as a sales representative and auctioneer.  The company conducts land and farm equipment auctions throughout the Midwest.

Setting his sights higher, Mason will compete in the inaugural Iowa Corn Classic Open Auctioneer Championship, held during the Iowa Beef Expo at the Iowa State Fairgrounds on February 12.  The contest will feature auctioneers from across the nation competing for a $5,000 cash payout to the Grand Champion.
