FOSTER

Lani L. Foster, 80, of Keokuk, IA, went peacefully home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, February 3, 2022.

He was born on July 21, 1941 in Keokuk, the son of Elmer Franklin and Mae Josephine (Wilkerson) Foster.  He graduated from Keokuk High School with the Class of 1962.

Through the years Lani had been employed at several Keokuk businesses, Newberry Towing, Cablevision, and Rose Brother’s Construction.

He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Keokuk.  He accepted the Lord as a young person and his faith nurtured and sustained him throughout the years.  He was a faithful prayer warrior and was always willing to pray for anyone and everyone who needed prayer. Most recently he attended the Cornerstone Church in Keokuk.

In the early to mid-1980’s, Lani was often seen riding his Moped around town along with his sister and his father.  He loved to drive and would take his mother and other family members on car rides to explore the countryside or traveled to Quincy to have lunch on the riverside.  One of his favorite excursions was going to Hobby Lobby.  Lani enjoyed collecting die cast cars and attending the Rat Pack car shows.  Lani never knew a stranger and was very well liked by many.  He had several high school friends who he stayed close to through the years, Everett Newberry, Frank Thoeny, Butch Swinderman and Charlie Milligan.  These friends were wonderful helpers to Lani and were always there when he needed something.  Lani’s handicap never deterred him from doing things.  He tackled any and all challenges with a determined spirit and a happy and up-beat attitude.

Lani is survived by his sister and caretaker, Diana R. Grice and her husband Gary of Keokuk, his brother-in-law and caretaker, Colin Kelly of Keokuk, four nephews, Shawne Grice of Burlington, Bryan Grice of Keokuk, Nathan Kelly (Sherie) of Keokuk and Shayne Kelly of Keokuk, great-nieces and nephews, Shayne Kelly, Shelby Kelly, Ethan Kelly, Noah Kelly, Gabriella Kelly and Addison Mae Kelly and many cousins.  He is also survived by special friends who were a great support to him, Norma Miller, Wanda Hendricks and his neighbors at River Terrace.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Rebeckah Kelly.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to K-Play or Cornerstone Church.
