State candidate asks for clean campaign

The public may not be aware that the Federal Trade Commission protects consumers from false advertising but political campaigns (and politicians) have been exempt from advertising requirements on the grounds of free speech.

I want to challenge that norm so that blatant falsehoods cannot be disseminated via ads backed by special interests.

The voters of southeast Iowa deserve to hear the truth so they can make data informed decisions that can and will affect their every day lives.

Fear mongering and name calling has no place in 2022 and beyond. It is time we hold everyone accountable who create narratives that are patently false.

I call on everyone to ask the tough questions. Is what you see and hear anecdotal information or is it backed by statistics?  Does what you see and hear use words like diabolical or claim false beliefs?  Let’s make it very clear that this is beneath the people of our communities and will not be tolerated.

There is no room to unify and grow Lee County if we are divided by hate, fear and misinformation.
