Lee County Pork Producers offer $500 scholarship

LEE COUNTY - The Lee County Pork Producers will be offering a $500 Scholarship for school year 2022-2023. Applications are now available now at the following places: all Lee County High School Guidance Offices, and the Lee County Extension Office, Donnellson. The due date is April 15,  2022. 
The purpose of this scholarship is to promote the growth of the pork industry by providing financial support to an applicant who plans to continue his or her education in a pork and/or agricultural related field.
Qualifications are as follows: A Lee County address must be listed as the permanent residence of the applicant or the applicant must be a member of the Lee County Pork Producers, or have a parent or guardian who is a member of the Lee County Pork Producers, or the applicant must be a member of good standing of a Lee County 4-H club and/or FFA chapter.
Applicants are not limited to attending a four-year college. Vocational schools, trade schools and community colleges are also acceptable.
First priority will be given to applicants who plan to study in an Agriculture-related field at a school with an Agriculture program. The applicant must be a current high school senior or a high school graduate. Selection will be based on the completeness of the application, a handwritten or typed essay, and the interview. If there is more than one candidate, they may be interviewed by the selection committee. The selection committee may waive the interview for all candidates.
The Pork Producer Scholarship will be non-renewable, and awarded to one person at a time, and may be awarded to more than one person at a time. The scholarship will be paid directly to the school at the beginning of the recipient’s second semester. If no applicants meet the qualifications, the scholarship will not be awarded. The intention for this scholarship is that it will be used for the second semester of school year 2022-2023.
