Anton “Tony” Joseph Houser, 81 of Keokuk, IA died Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL after a short illness.

He was born July 21, 1940 in Iowa City, IA the son of Walter and Helen Shimon. Houser.  Tony graduated from Iowa City High, in Iowa City, IA with the class of 1958.  He was a talented football player and was a walk-on player for the Iowa Hawkeyes during the Evashevski era until he suffered from a knee injury that ended his career.

He was first married to Susan Becicka on January 7, 1963.  They later divorced.  Tony and his wife, Gina Cramer had been together for thirty-four years.  She survives.

Other survivors include his children, Wally Houser, Ken Houser, Dennis (Vickie) Houser, Chris (Jodi) Houser, Julie Houser (Tina Love), Kimberly Houser, Zoe Houser, Luke Houser, Brice Houser, Noah Houser and Grace Houser, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by a brother, Woody Houser and a sister, Bonnie Forbes (LaVerne) and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Brenda and two brothers, Larry Houser and Bill Houser.

Tony enjoyed tinkering with things to see how they worked and putting them back together to make them better.  He especially loved farming and had been farming all his life since he was a kid.

Tony had been employed by the University of Iowa as the supervisor of custodians for twenty-five years and made many wonderful friends during his time there. 

Services will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heifer International or Feed the Children.
