County Dems to award scholarships

LEE COUNTY - The Lee County Democratic Party will award two scholarships in the amount of $500 each to graduating seniors who reside in Lee County and attend Keokuk High School, Fort Madison High School, Holy Trinity, or Central Lee High School. The scholarships are one way the Lee County Democrats show how important they believe our young people are for the future of Iowa, and that higher education can be a pathway to a student’s future. Applicants must plan to pursue additional training by attending an accredited college, university, community college or business/technical/trade/career school. The application process includes an essay, but also looks at the applicants’ GPA and involvement in school, community service, work history, and leadership activities.

Students can obtain the application form from the guidance office of their high school. The deadline for submission and completion of the application is April 15th. The completed essays and applications are to be returned to their high school guidance office. If you have any questions, you may contact Mary Jo Riesberg, chair of the Lee County Democratic Party, at 319-526-3160.
