Wayne Herman Bell, 73, of Burlington, died at 5:36 AM Friday, March 11, 2022, at the Klein Center in West Burlington.

Born October 26, 1948, in Burlington, he was the son of James William and Mildred Ethel Hart Bell. On March 27, 1993, he married Gloria Geraldine Brock in Burlington, Iowa. She died January 12, 2014.

He was a 1968 graduate of Burlington High School. 

Wayne retired after 27 years, working for The American Ordnance.

He was a big baseball and football fan especially when it came to the Metz and Cowboys. He was an umpire for Little League baseball and helped his brother with auctions.

Survivors include his daughters, Shelly Marie Bell and Shannon M. Bell of Colorado, and Lisa Marie Bell of Burlington, IA; step-sons, Scott McCumin of Denver, CO, Micheal Ray Guthrie of Kingsville, MO, Terry Lee Guthrie, and Christopher James "C.J." Guthrie of Burlington; 10 grandchildren, two brother, James William Bell, Jr. of Danville, IA,  and Darrell Bell of Dallas City, IL; two sisters, Jean Reeves of Burlington and Sue Albert, of West Concord, MN; sister-in-law, Debbie Bell; brother-in-law, Emil Schneider; dear friend, Linda Hand; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Kenny, Dan and Ernie; one sister, Janice Schneider and one granddaughter, Tiffany.

Visitation will be from noon until 8:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.

The funeral service for Mr. Bell will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with officiating.  Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.  

A memorial has been established for cancer research.
