Philip G. Schmitz, 84, of Keokuk, IA, passed away on Monday, March 14, 2022 at 12:12 PM at the University of Iowa Hospital.

He was born on September 6, 1937 in Nauvoo, IL to Donald and Lenora White Schmitz.  On February 3, 1962 he married Frances Wellman in Ft. Madison. Philip was a pipefitter and also farmed.   He served in the US Army from 1958-1961.  In his early years Philip loved playing tennis.  Philip enjoyed a little of everything and was very talented; he was a “jack of all trades” 

Survivors include his wife, Frances Schmitz of Keokuk; one son, Neil (Gloria) Schmitz of Mt. Pleasant; one daughter, Julie (Lonny) Pulkrabek of Iowa City; five grandchildren, Jason, Andrew, Michael & Zachary Schmitz and Sam Pulkrabek;  one sister, Sharalee Baxter of Altamont, IL and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Donald and Tom and one sister, Barbara Monroe.    The family will meet with friends from 9:30 AM until 11 AM Thursday, March 17, 2022, at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory.  A private family burial will be held in Montrose Cemetery.
