Michael LeRoy Russell, 73 years, of Lomax, Illinois died Thursday morning, March 17, 2022 at his home.  He was born May 19, 1948 in Alexandria, Missouri, a son of Murray and Mildred (Fellows) Russell.  On July 12, 1990, he married Cathy Forquer at Kahoka, Missouri.

Mike was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving in the Vietnam War.  For 30 years, he worked in maintenance at Case New Holland, Burlington, Iowa, retiring in 2009.  He also worked at General Electric and Universal-Hillers Contracting.  He was a former member of the Ducks Unlimited.  He enjoyed tending to his yard and was very proud of his work.  He loved the Green Bay Packers, fishing, hunting, and hanging with friends.

Mike is survived by his wife, Cathy, of Lomax, Illinois; his children: Michael (Donna) Russell, of Atlanta, Georgia; Melissa (Chris) Kettler, of New London, Iowa; Dustin Forquer, of Burlington, Iowa; brother, Richard (Linda) Russell, of Danville, Iowa; three grandchildren: Danielle, Brock and Jackie, two great granddaughters: Myca and Rylie, one great grandson, Derick P. and numerous nephews and nieces.  He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers: Owen, James, Gaylord and Harold, 

two sisters: Bernice and Bonita, one daughter, Leona Rae Russell and one grandson, Derick F.

Family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Saturday, March 19, 2022 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, Iowa.  A short Prayer Service will start at 7:00 pm Saturday evening at the chapel with Pastor Jeff Alexander officiating.  A memorial has been established, contributions may be left at or mailed to Barr Memorial Chapel, 1919 Ave F, Fort Madison, Iowa 52627.  Barr Memorial Chapel is honored to serve the Russell family and an online guest book may be found at www.barrmemorialchapel.com.
