Robert J. Wustrow, 102, of Keokuk, died Thursday, March 17, 2022 at River Hills Village in Keokuk, IA.

He was born December 3, 1919 the son of Edmund G. and Fern Woods Wustrow in Keokuk, IA.  Robert graduated from Keokuk Senior High School with the class of 1937.  He furthered his education and graduated from Iowa Wesleyan University in 1941 with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry and was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity.    

On June 8, 1942, he was united in marriage to Bertha Giddens in Mt. Pleasant, IA.  She preceded him in death on November 22, 2002.

Robert was employed with the Hubinger Company in Keokuk for forty years retiring in January of 1982. 

He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Keokuk, Lee County, IA Historical Society, Keokuk Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the Keokuk Rotary Club for sixty one years. 

He is survived by three children, Ann Wustrow of Keokuk, John Wustrow (Karen) of Hamilton, IL and Jane Wustrow (Will Cherry) of Penrose, CO, two grandchildren, Brie Nelson (Jeremiah) of Xenia, OH, and Jonathan Wustrow (Janelle) of Hamilton, IL, eight great grandchildren and a nephew, Russell “Rusty” Grimpe of Skiatook, OK.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister and her husband Dorothy and Harry Grimpe and a niece, Barbara Grimpe.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with Pastor Dave Barrett officiating.  Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk.

Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service from 10 – 11 a.m. with the family meeting with friends at that time. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church or to the Lee County, Iowa Historical Society.
