FORT MADISON - The Fort Madison Lincoln Elementary and Richardson parent teacher groups are once again putting on their annual carnival fundraiser in April.

The events were cancelled in previous years due to the pandemic, but will take place again this year at Fort Madison High School on April 2.

Organizers have planned more than 25 games including 10 new games with prizes sponsored by local businesses. A Candy Crush Walk is a new addition and a take on the traditional Cake Walk, which is also being planned. Candy prizes are allergy friendly.

Lee County Conservation, Iowa State University Extension, and Case-New Holland are all planning to have booths and games set up for kids.

Clowns will be on hand making balloon animals and the high school robotics team is setting up a demonstration. Fort Madison Firefighters and Lee County EMS plan on bringing in trucks for kids to see, if they are available.

Concessions will also be available.

An auction fundraiser, hosted by Fraise Auctions, in conjunction with the carnival will be held online with bidding starting April 1 and closing April 8. A preview of auction items will be available at the carnival, along with assistance helping set up an account with Fraise's online bidding site.

Items for auction include classroom projects from both elementaries, items donated from area businesses and community including gift certificates, rodeo tickets, local restaurant certificates, golf outings, firepits and movie passes.

The event is still in need of volunteers, and anyone who is interested in helping can sign up at the link below.   Lincoln PTG/Richardson PTO: FM Elementary School Carnival (signupgenius.com).

This year's carnival sponsors include the following: Menke & Co.; Community Heating & Cooling; Pilot Grove Savings Bank; Connection Bank; Truck Repair; State Farm; Riverside Nutrition; Iowa Fertilizer Co.; Group Benefit Partners; Johnson Trucking; King-Lynk Funeral Home; Carl A. Nelson Co.;
