Creston Harold Arthur, 76, of Keokuk died Friday, April 8, 2022 at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington, IA.

He was born November 1, 1945 in Keokuk, IA, the son of John “Jack” and Thelma Shaffer Arthur. He graduated from Ft. Madison High School with the class of 1963.  He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.  On May 9, 1987 he was united in marriage to Kay Diedrich in Janesville, WI.  She survives.

He is also survived by his children, Angie Wieprecht (Rick) of Warsaw, Jeff Arthur of South Carolina, Jason Arthur (Nicole) of Bowen, IL and Leah Faulkner (Tim Vonholt) of Quincy, IL, step children, Marci Bullen (Danny) of Janesville, WI and Michael Harbin (Erika) of Fort Worth, TX, ten grandchildren, seven step grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and nine step great grandchildren.  He is also survived by father-in-law, Henry Diedrich of Arizona, two brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Gene Arthur and his mother-in-law, Lucile Diedrich.

Creston was employed with the City of Keokuk street department for nineteen years retiring in 2007.  He also worked in different auto repair garages including Ray O’Hara’s as a mechanic.

Creston was a member of the Keokuk Jaycees and helped with many street fairs over the years. He was a member of the Keokuk Yacht club and was active on the board of directors. He was also a member of the Coast Guard auxiliary for ten years and was a vessel inspector and was the Flotilla Commander from 2002-2006. 

He enjoyed racing stock cars and helping with the fly ins at the airport.  Creston loved horses and enjoyed taking care of other people’s horses.

A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with Pastor Dave Barrett officiating.  Burial with military rites will be in the Keokuk National Cemetery.

Visitation will be held after 1 p.m. Thursday with the family meeting with friends from 5 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
