FORT MADISON - In the final production of their 2021/2022 season, Old Fort Players has scheduled a unique comedy to take the stage in early May. Tickets are available online now at www.purplepass.com/ofpmay2022.

“Crazytown” is an evening of comedy that takes a tour of the most messed up town in America, from the police interrogation room where the nicest guy in town is issued a strange ultimatum, to the elementary school for a heated political debate on critical issues … like tater tots. Welcome to Crazytown, where our motto is: Welcome to Crazytown.

Co-directors Ty Clute and Angela Sanford have cast an experienced group of actors to fill out their roster.

James Salisbury and Tedra Olson Edwards bring their comedic talents to the stage again after appearing together in the smash 2020 hit “Drinking Habits.” Kim Albers returns after her crowd-pleasing debut performance in 2021’s popular show “Leaving Iowa.”

Michael Reed Randolph is back onstage after only a brief respite since appearing in 2021’s hilarious murder mystery “As Long As We Both Shall Live.” Oscar Bauswell has been vital this season helping behind the scenes and still had time to voice several roles in “It’s A Wonderful Life” before joining this production.

Richar Abel has barely had time to catch her breath after wowing audiences with her performance in February’s production of “The Savannah Sipping Society.” Ty Clute will do double duty as actor and co-director when he’s not designing the set.

Each of the actors will appear in multiple roles, with lots of costume, set and prop changes to mark the different scenes and characters in this sketch comedy show. Get ready to laugh loud and long at these crazy sendups of small-town life in modern America.

“Crazytown,” written by Jonathan Rand, is produced by Special Arrangement with Playscripts, Inc. (www.playscripts.com), performances are scheduled to run May 6-8 & 13-15, 2022.  Friday and Saturday shows start at 7:30 pm and Sunday matinees begin at 2. Adult tickets are $15, Seniors, Vets and Military are $12 and Student tickets are $10. Call 319-372-9559 or send a Facebook message to reserve your seat.

Lead sponsors for the season are Lee County Bank and Jim Baier Ford and partners include the Fort Madison Daily Democrat and Scotts, with Connections Bank also contributing.

Last season would have been Old Fort Players’ 40th anniversary but the celebration was postponed due to Covid. So, this is the “40+1 Anniversary Season.” The theater is located in downtown Fort Madison at 725 Avenue G. Send an email to oldfortplayersfm@gmail.com for more information.
