Karen Ruble, 73, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2022 at 5:00 PM at her home.

She was born on August 1, 1948 in Ft. Madison to Richard “Dick” and Leila Pollmier Nutgrass.  Karen was a nurse for numerous years, including at the Fort Madison Community Hospital and the Iowa State Penitentiary.  She was a devout Catholic and a member of Holy Family Parrish, the Altar & Rosary Society, CLA, FMCH Auxiliary and was a parish nurse minister. Karen enjoyed crocheting, knitting and going out to eat with her friends.

Survivors include one son, Steve (Terry Bunker) Ruble of Ft. Madison and one brother, Bill Nutgrass of Ft. Madison.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

The funeral mass will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at 11 AM at Ss. Mary & Joseph Catholic Church.  A rosary will be recited at 10 AM at the church with visitation to follow until the time of the service at 11 AM.  Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
