FORT MADISON - The Fort Madison Area Arts Association will be having its first Expressions Art Auction since the pandemic broke in 2019.

The annual fundraiser is May 13, starting at 6:30 p.m. at McAleer Hall 415 11th Street in Fort Madison, with wine and beer tasting and hors d’oeuvres courtesy of The Grange in Mt. Pleasant. Attendees will also have time to peruse the available items and start silent auction bidding.

The pandemic caused the cancellation of this critical fundraising event the past two years and the association is counting on a successful event this year, FMAAA Director Lori Illner Greene said.

Because of ongoing community support the FMAAA Art Center is able to exhibit a wide ranging variety of art in the Main Gallery each month from the Budding Artists to High School youth, to local talent and artist work sourced from outside the region.

This amethyst pendant will be auctioned off the Fort Madison Area Arts Association's Expression Auction on May 13th in Fort Madison.

Additional programs like Gallery talks, performance nights, and early out children's programs are wrapped around the exhibitions to provide a fuller experience. In addition, the Art Center offers a variety of classes each month and has a walk-in glazing studio for you to create your own personalized ceramics at your own pace. A new studio space is also being developed where the center can offer additional programs and classes for the community to engage with.

FMAAA organizes the Annual Garden Tour in June, offers Kids Art Camp in July, and hosts Art in Central Park in September. If you haven't stopped in lately the center is located at 825 Avenue G and has an extensive Member Gallery with fine art and finely crafted items for that perfect gift.

FMAAA's Expression's Art Auction is the group's premier annual event with more than 50 items available. Beautiful pieces of art donated by members. Fine jewelry, and tickets for a memorable trip, stay-cation, or experience will be auctioned off during the silent and live auctions.

Tickets are available at the Art Center for $40 each and reservations for VIP Tables at $400 each which includes two bottles of wine. Call 319-372-3996 for more information or to set up a reservation. Walk-ins are welcome.
