Margery May Durbin went to be with her Lord Sunday April 10, 2022.  Margery died at her home in Augusta, Iowa.  She was born December 12, 1923 in Hillsboro, Iowa, the daughter of Olin and Clara (Hoyer) Howes.  On July 10, 1944 she married Donald Wayne Durbin in Brooklyn, New York.  They had four sons: Terry (Carol) of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Robert (Linda) of Fountain Hills, Arizona, James (Deann) Durbin of Augusta, Iowa, and Jon Scott (Barbara) of Burlington, Iowa; 12 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Margery also had a brother, Gene (Bobbie) Howes of Hamilton, Illinois; 

Margery was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister Alene Brill, and a great grandchild

Margery lived in Fort Madison, Iowa from 1941 until 1947.  She worked at Sheaffer Pen Company from 1941 until 1944.  Her family moved to Augusta, Iowa in 1947.  Margery excelled as a full-time homemaker as well as being an avid vegetable gardener.  Her favorite hobby was feeding and watching her beloved hummingbirds through her kitchen window.

Margery  was a member of the First Baptist Church, Fort Madison.  

Per her wishes, her body has been cremated.  Her family will greet friends from 9:30 - 10:30 am Friday, May 13, 2022 at the First Baptist Church, Fort Madison, Iowa.  Her funeral service will follow and begin at 10:30 am Friday at the church, with Pastor Dean Graber officiating.  Burial will be at Augusta Cemetery, Augusta, Iowa, with a luncheon to follow at the First Baptist Family Life Center, Fort Madison.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the College of the Ozarks, contributions may be left at or mailed to Barr Memorial Chapel, 1919 Ave F, Fort Madison, Iowa 52627.
