Carmen M. Pohlpeter78, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at 6:41 PM at The Madison.

   She was born on November 28, 1943 in Ft. Madison to Raymond and Myrtle Miller Pohlpeter.  Carman was a 1961 graduate of FMHS. She  worked at Sheaffer Pen Company and retired after forty four years of service.  Carmen was a member of Ss. Mary & Joseph Church, the Altar & Rosary Society and CLA.   She was a charter member of Local UAW 1551 and was a very devoted Democrat for Lee County and the state of Iowa.  

   Survivors include two sisters, Connie Bunker and Peggy Pohlpeter both of Ft. Madison; one brother, Larry (Frances) Pohlpeter of Terrel, Ok; two sisters in law, Ann Pohlpeter of Ft. Madison and Glenda Pohlpter of Des Moines; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. 

   The funeral mass will be held on Monday, May 9, 2022 at 11 AM at Ss. Mary & Joseph Church with Rev. Joseph Phung officiating.  The family will meet with friends from 10 AM until the time of the service at the church.  Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
