FORT MADISON - Fort Madison Mayor Matt Mohrfeld is making good on his commitment to share a beverage with the public at the riverfront to highlight progress on the city's new marina project.

Mohrfeld had originally planned an April 1 viewing of the marina, but that date was pushed into May due to the increased difficulties and unforeseen delays around river dredging.

In a release issued Wednesday, the committee in charge of marketing for the project, invited the community for an update on the project and a sneak peek at the work being done.

"Thank you Fort Madison and surrounding communities for your support as our beautiful new marina continues to take shape. The dredging portion of the project is on track to be finished about May 15th of this year. The mouth of the Marina is open and our goal is to begin launching from the new marina's boat ramp on Friday, July 1.

"Three of of the docks are currently on location. The two uncovered slips should be usable by the July 1st goal date, with parking also available at that time for slip renters. The covered dock should become available for use by late July.

We are also excited to announce a public celebration event on Thursday, June 2nd, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Fort Riverview Pavilion in Fort Madison, where residents can enjoy a complimentary beverage and a Marina update from Mayor Matt Mohrfeld."
We appreciate your continued support as we work hard to make this Marina a place for all of us!"

Please let me know if either of you have any questions. Thanks so much!
