Robert Francis Cochran, 91, of Argyle, Iowa, passed away at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 19, 2022, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Home Health and Hospice Health Center in West Burlington, Iowa.

He was born on July 3, 1930, in Farmington, Iowa, the son of Archie Francis and Bertha (Pruett) Cochran. On June 15, 1958, he married Dorothea Ellen Parker at Hillsboro Christian Church.

Survivors include his four children: Bonita Cass of Bonaparte, Iowa, John (Angela) Cochran of Argyle, Iowa, Mary (David) Eid of Wever, Iowa, Thomas (Vicki) Cochran of Danville, Iowa; son-in-law: Derek Helmers of LaHarpe, Illinois, grandchildren: Darin (Cassie) Cass, Kayla (Mitch) Seager, Kara Eid, Kristin (Kyle) Pauley, Breanne Helmers, Rick (Sloan) Blumer, John Helmers, Amanda (Chris) Barry, Tyler Cochran, Katrina Cochran, Daniel Fritzjunker; great grandchildren: Taylor Seager, Kylie Seager, Madilyn Cass, Wyatt Cass, Lacie Barry, Aliyana Barry, Autumn Fritzjunker and baby Pauley on the way; brother: Ronald (Rovene) Cochran; two sisters: Lois Wixom and Twila (Delbert) Harper. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Archie and Bertha Cochran; wife: Dorothea; daughter: Dovetta Helmers; three sisters: Irma, Wilma and Norma Jean and half brother: Stanley Lyttle.

Bob served in the United States Air Force as a staff sergeant during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a mechanist and millwright. He was a member of Bethel Bible Church, the Farmington American Legion Richardson - Anthony Post #231, John Birch Society and Lee County Republican Committee. Bob and Dorothea enjoyed camping and traveling. Bob was a volunteer on the Des Moines Township fire department for several years where he had served as fire chief. He collected antique cars and antique memorabilia and worked in many trades throughout his life.

Friends may call after 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 23, 2022, at Schmitz Funeral Home in Donnellson, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. that evening.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at Schmitz Funeral Home in Donnellson with Pastor Aaron Hand  and Pastor Mike Shea officiating. 

Honors will be presented, following the service, by the Southeast Iowa Regional Fire Honor Guard and the Farmington American Legion.

Following the service, cremation will take place with burial being held at a later date at the Greenglade Cemetery in Farmington, Iowa.
