KEOSAUQUA - A storm of a different sort blew through Van Buren County Wednesday night.

The Fort Madison Bloodhounds erupted for nine runs in the second inning enroute to a 17-0 win over Van Buren County in boys' high school baseball action.

Landes Williams went three innings, surrendering just two hits and striking out five to get the win. Aidan Pennock came on in relief striking out one and not giving up a hit or run in one inning of relief.

Fort Madison jumped out to a 2-0 lead when a sacrifice bunt turned ugly for the Warriors. Kane Williams and Landes Williams both scored when the throw from third got away down the line.

In the second inning, Brennan Ulik, Caden Barnes, and Jordan Simpson all reached on singles with no outs. Williams drew an RBI walk and then Kane Williams tripled to center, scoring everyone. Tate Johnson followed with a double to left, scoring Williams. Johnson would score on a ground out. A couple hit batsmen, a walk, and a fielder's choice plated about four more and the Hounds were up 11-0.

The Bloodhounds (2-0, 0-0) would add three in the third and three more in the fourth to ensure the mercy rule after four innings.

Kane Williams and Tanner Settles each had two hits for the Hounds. Kane Williams had three RBIs and scored three runs to lead Fort Madison at the plate. Pennock, Johnson, Ulik, Henry Wiseman, Barnes, and Simpson all had hits for Fort Madison. Johnson also scored three runs.

Fort Madison kicks off Southeast Conference play Tuesday with a doubleheader at Mt. Pleasant on Tuesday and a double header in Fairfield on Thursday.
