LAUBERSHEIMER

Robert Kenneth “Bob” Laubersheimer, 78, of Keokuk, IA passed away peacefully on Monday, May 23, 2022 after several years of health challenges and complications.

Bob was born on September 12, 1943 in Keokuk, IA, son of Robert and Louise (Squeak) Laubersheimer. He graduated from Keokuk High School with the class of 1961 and after graduation served in the United States Army for 2-years before returning to Keokuk. He had been employed by many local companies throughout his life, eventually retiring in 2010 from Jim Baier Service Department in Ft Madison.

In 1972, he was united in marriage to Shirlee Peevler. Although they later divorced, Shirlee continued to be the one constant in his life, being his friend and caregiver to the end.

Those who knew Bob knew he was an avid sports fan and during his younger years, you would find him along the sidelines of many athletic events. Many know that if you talked sports with Bob, he was a man of many words, otherwise, he was a man of little. He umpired and coached many kids, teens and even adults throughout the years, but watching his daughter Shellee and coaching his son Brent, brought him the most joy. In addition to being his children’s biggest fan, he enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and St. Louis Cardinals and later took a love to Connecticut Women’s basketball only to spite his daughter because she was a huge fan of their rival, the Tennessee Lady Vol’s.

He was also a member of the Keokuk Elks Lodge 106 and served as secretary for over twenty years.

Bob is survived by his ex-wife and friend Shirlee Peevler Laubersheimer (Jeff Zinnert), one daughter, Shellee Laubersheimer of Mountain View, CA, sisters, Judy (Flint) Peyton and Jennifer Laubersheimer, brother, Wayne (Donna) Laubersheimer and many nieces and nephews. Most importantly, he is survived by his loving granddaughter (Brent’s daughter) Emma, and his chosen family Anita Roth (Emma’s mother) and her three children McKenzie and Michael Ballard and Justin Webb all who he considered as his other grandchildren.

He was proceeded in death by his son Brent, his father Robert and mother Louise all in 2008, his brother in-law William (Bill) Peevler and mother in-law Lois Peevler McKee.

Graveside services with Military Rites will be held on June 13, 2022 at 10 a.m. at the Keokuk National Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the organization of the donor’s choice.
