Mr. Robert R. Wagner, Jr., age 80, of Colusa, Illinois passed away at 1:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at the Aspire of Donnellson in Donnellson, Iowa, following a battle with cancer.
He was born May 9, 1941, in La Harpe, the son of Robert R. Wagner, Sr. and Catherine E. (Owings) Wagner.
He was a 1959 graduate of Colusa High School. He later graduated from Western Illinois University with Bachelor of Science Degree. Early in life he farmed with his father in the Colusa area. Later, Robert served as pastor of the Bethel Church in Hamilton, Illinois, retiring in 2021. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
Robert was very active in his community and organizations, which included Kiwanis, Moose Lodge, Masons, Lions Club, Habitat for Humanity, Food Pantry, and many others. Robert did many good deeds for people, oftentimes with no knowledge or recognition by anyone other than the people he helped, and God. He cared deeply about this community and the people he served, and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include one son, Tom (Lisa) Wagner of Santa Barbara, California, two daughters, Brenda Wagner of Colusa and Jennifer (Greg) Harl, also of Colusa, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Judy Hribar and a daughter, Catherine Lynn Wagner.
A celebration of Robert’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 15 at 6:00 p.m. at Bethel Church in Hamilton. A memorial fund has been established in his memory.
