Barbara D. Rhode, 92, of Cape Coral, FL and formerly of Fort Madison, IA, passed away at 9:53 p.m. on Sunday, June 12, 2022 at Hope Hospice Care Center in Cape Coral, FL. She was born on September 2, 1929 in Fort Madison, IA to Harry & Irene Clancy Decker. She married Robert F. Rhode on April 10, 1950 in Fort Madison, IA. He preceded her in death on August 14, 2021. She was a homemaker and worked for the City of Fort Madison for several years. She was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Church in Fort Madison and also a member of Ss. Mary & Patrick Church in West Burlington, IA. She enjoyed music, golfing, the Iowa Hawkeyes and being with her family.
Barb is survived by: 1-daughter: Gale (Clair) Swinton of Oceanport, NJ; 2-sons: Scott (Louise) Rhode of Cape Coral, FL & Bruce (Renee) Rhode of Cape Coral, FL; 3-grandchildren: Rachel Rhode, Andy (Cassandra) Swinton & Erik (Brianna) Swinton; 3-great grandchildren: Cole Swinton, C.J. Swinton & Cooper Swinton. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Per her wishes, her body has been cremated. King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Fort Madison, IA.
