Mary Catherine Peacock, 101, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away at 10:15 p.m. on Friday, June 17, 2022 at the Klein Center in West Burlington, IA. She was born on September 16, 1920 in Fort Madison, IA to Harry & Hilda Grimwood Westfall. She married Joseph C. Peacock on February 22, 1959 in Fort Madison, IA. He preceded her in death on October 9, 2000. She owned and operated the De Luxe Beauty Salon in Fort Madison for many years. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Fort Madison and formerly a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was an avid gardener with a passion for roses, enjoyed playing Bingo, and volunteering in the community, especially at the Fort Madison Nursing Home up to age 99 when she stopped due to COVID. She was proud that she drove her car right up until her death.
Mary is survived by: 1-daughter: Jeanette Mutchler of Fort Madison, IA; 2-grandchildren: Kenneth Mutchler of Danville, IA & Carolyn (Craig) Calloway of Middletown, IA; 9-great grandchildren: Melenie, Matthew, Michelle, Chadwick, Catherine, Christopher, Cynthia, Michael & Amber; at least 19-great great grandchildren; 3-step daughters: Joan, Barbara & Susie; several step grandchildren & step great grandchildren and 1-sister: Leona Huebner of Burlington, IA. She was preceded in death by: her parents, husband, 1-granddaughter: Debbie, 1-brother & 2-sisters.
A visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Friday, June 24, 2022 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. The funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Fort Madison. A memorial has been established in Mary’s memory.
