Donald Wayne Nichols, 78, of Dallas City, Illinois, passed away at 7:36 p.m. Sunday, June 19, 2022 at his home.

Donald was born October 16, 1943 in Fort Madison, Iowa the son of John P. and Virginia (Corbin) Nichols. On June 16, 1968 he married Karen Brown at the Free Methodist Church in Dallas City. She survives.

Donald was a graduate of LaPlata High School, LaPlata, Missouri. He worked for several years at  Skerik’s and retired from Silgan Containers, both in Fort Madison. He enjoyed bowling and fishing. 

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Karen; one son: Curt Nichols of Hamilton, Illinois; three siblings: John, Pat and Eleanor; two grandchildren: Erika and Jesse and three great-grandchildren: Lucas, Zack and Harmony.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his father and mother-in-law: Ernest and Hazel Brown and a brother-in-law: Stanley.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 2, 2022 at the Dallas City Cemetery, Dallas City. A time of food and remembrance will follow at the River of Life Fellowship in Dallas City.
