Plans underway for 101st Mexican Fiesta

FM school district moves Homecoming to accommodate festival

FORT MADISON - The 101st  Fort Madison Mexican Fiesta will begin on Thursday, September 14 and will close at midnight on Saturday, September 16.  

Kiki Prado and Kristy Shaw have agreed to organize and support the Fiesta Court, it's time for Queens and Princesses to come forward!  In addition to fundraising efforts, Queens will complete an essay and points will also be given for community service hours.  Contact Kristy at Kristen-Shaw@hotmail.com to sign up and for more information.

Izzy Hind is the Dance Troupe leader and says dancers are needed for this year's event. The first day to meet for practice is Sunday, July 10 at 5 p.m.  Dancers should come to the Shelter House in the village and are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes. The Fort Madison High School had previously scheduled it's Homecoming weekend for the same weekend, but has since moved the weekend to the following weekend so students could participate in both events.

Denise Miller will be the contact for vendors, and additional information is available by sending an email to FortMadisonMexicanFiesta@gmail.com.  The cost for a booth for three days will be $300.00 this year and must be paid by setup on Wednesday, September 13.  

This year's program is currently in production.  If you have pictures or articles from a past Fiesta, and want to  include in this years program, would you please send a copy to FortMadisonMexicanFiesta@gmail.com? If there are family members to be remembered in the program, we appreciate receiving those as well.   

There will be a carnival from Thursday to Saturday and a Kid's Day program on Friday, September 15.

Bluezillion will play on Thursday night, the Mocambo Band will play on Friday and Saturday night, with a full program of dancers and entertainment during the day. 

The next Fiesta Committee meeting is June 25 at 4pm at the Shelter House, open to all.
