Larry Flambeau, 73, of Keokuk died Thursday, June 23, 2022 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.

He was born on September 20, 1948 in Keokuk, IA the son of Rhea and Ferne Flambeau.

Larry graduated from Keokuk High School with the class of 1967.  He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Navy from 1968 - 1972.

On December 27, 1969, he was united in marriage to Gwynn Harmon in Keokuk, IA. 

Larry retired from Roquette as a railcar supervisor after twenty five years.  Larry liked keeping busy after he retired and decided to go back to work.  He work for AMI Plumbing Supply in Keokuk, Phoenix Fabricators and the Hy-Vee gas station.

He was a member of St Paul United Church of Christ, the American Legion and the Southside Boat Club and served on the board for seven years.

Larry enjoyed the outdoors, riding his motorcycle, playing golf, boating on the Mississippi or fishing.  He was a gifted woodworker and enjoyed countless hours in his workshop building snowman and pumpkin crafts.

He is survived by his wife, Gwynn Flambeau of Keokuk; two children, Todd Flambeau of Keokuk and Cari Flambeau-Johnson (Brandon Smith) of Hamilton, two granddaughters, Brandie Wolff and Brooklyn Johnson, three great grandchildren, Kamryn Wolff, Landon LaBonte and Rudi Gwynn Gonzalez; one sister-in-law, Kay Flambeau of Warsaw, two brothers-in-law, Terry Schilson of North Carolina and Gary Barnes of Keokuk along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ferne Flambeau Eppers, father, Rhea Flambeau, step-father, Chuck Eppers, sister, Linda Schilson, two brothers, Roger Flambeau and Randy Flambeau.

A memorial service will be will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with Pastor Mike Shea officiating. Burial with military rites will be held in the Keokuk National Cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from noon – 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the family meeting with friends at that time.

Memorials may be made to the Keokuk American Legion.
