LEE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS REGULAR MEETING MINUTES

June 20, 2022

The Lee County Board of Supervisors met at the Lee County Administration Building in Fort Madison on Monday, June 20, 2022 at 10:00 a.m.

Present: Matt Pflug, Garry Seyb, Ron Fedler, Chuck Holmes and Rick Larkin.

All votes are unanimous unless indicated otherwise.

The Board opened the meeting by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.

Moved by Larkin, seconded by Seyb, to approve the agenda. Motion carried.

There was no Public Input.

Fort Madison Mayor Matt Mohrfeld gave the Board an update on the Marina Project and asked for $250,000 in funding. Moved by Seyb, seconded by Fedler, to table the request until a discussion can be held on the source of the funding. Motion carried.

Moved by Seyb, seconded by Fedler, to approve a quote from Bargen Incorporated for crack and joint sealing on 280th Ave and X23, at a cost of $67,589.58. Motion carried.

Moved by Holmes, seconded by Seyb, to approve a contract with Cessford Construction for road rock at Geode Quarry for Fiscal Year 2023, at a cost of $13.00/ton. Motion carried.

Moved by Seyb, seconded by Fedler, to approve a contract with Cessford Construction for road rock at Donnellson Quarry for Fiscal Year 2023, at a cost of $13.00/ton. Motion carried.

Moved by Seyb, seconded by Holmes, to approve a Maintenance and Support Contract with IDEMIA for the Livescan Fingerprint Machine at the Sheriff’s Office, for the period June 22, 2022 through June 21, 2023, at a cost of $3,133.00. Motion carried.

Moved by Fedler, seconded by Seyb, to approve taking $275,000 from the ARPA money for IT improvements for the County. Motion carried.

Moved by Seyb, seconded by Holmes, to approve the Tuesday, June 14, 2022 Board Minutes. Motioned carried.

Moved by Fedler, seconded by Seyb, to approve a step increase for Joshua Patton, Mechanic, from $20.88/hr. to $23.48/hr., effective 6/27/22 and a new hire for Veteran Affairs, Joshua Weeks, part-time Administrative Assistant, $15.00/hr., effective 7/5/22. Motion carried.

Received and filed a Manure Management Annual Update for Dingman Farms in Pleasant Ridge Township, a Manure Management Annual Update for Squeal Inn in Harrison Township and the Sheriff’s Monthly Report for May 2022.

Committee Reports: Seyb reported on an ARPA Committee meeting and an Empowering Families Committee meeting. Larkin reported on a Landfill Commission meeting. Holmes reported that Conservation Board President Tom

Pollpeter showed him the properties owned by the Conservation Board. The Conservation Board also held a Zoom meeting.

At 11:10 a.m. a motion was made by Fedler, seconded by Holmes, to adjourn. Motion carried. The next meeting will be held on Monday, June 27, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the Administration Building in Fort Madison.
