QUINCY – Fort Madison's Iris Arevalo received a Special Recognition Award at the annual Quincy Art Center.
Arevalo's Blooming, in oil pastel, was one of three to receive the honor.
The Quincy Art Center announced the winners of the 51st Annual High School Student Art Competition Wednesday morning.
This year’s Best of Show was awarded to Kaitlyn Spence for her oil painting, Pursuit. Additional top honors include Second Place for Newspaper Boat, a photograph by Kayden Warner, and Third Place for Large River Birch Bowl, a ceramic piece by Logan Foxall. Quincy Notre Dame High School art teacher Amanda Strudwick won the Art Teacher Award for her oil painting St. Cecilia.

The 51st Annual High School Student Art Competition exhibit is open now through February 27 at Quincy Art Center, located at 1515 Jersey St., Quincy, IL. The Art Center is open Wednesday – Saturday from 11 AM to 6 PM, and admission is free and open to the public.
