Arts Association has full slate of holiday happenings

FORT MADISON - Saturday, November 26th is Mistletoe on Main Street, a day filled with events for downtown Fort Madison.

 

That same day, the FMAAA Art Center is kicking off a fun and easy to participate in Pick YOUR Bag fundraiser along with hosting a Book Signing with work by four local authors/illustrators.

 

Children's book illustrator and now author, Tracee Guzman will be on hand along with Curt Swarm and Bruce Carlson.  Children's books signed by author Andrea Crooks, and illustrator Carlene Atwater are also available for sale.

 

The fundraiser drawings will be held on Wednesday, Dec 21 at 3pm so there is plenty of time to stop into the Art Center and cast your chance for the bag you like best.

 

Friday, December 9th  - Annual Member Show Opening Reception  5pm-7pm 

 

Everyone is invited to share in the festivities along with some delicious hors d'oeuvres and cheerful beverages. FMAAA Members from throughout the region will be displaying two original works of art in the Main Gallery. Teri Welbourne will be on hand playing piano during our reception. She has been playing at our Openings these past six months providing a wonderful backdrop for the occasions. Cambre House and Farm, an events and wedding facility in Niota, Illinois is the generous sponsor of the December exhibition.

 

December 24th -- The Art Center will be closed on Christmas Eve.

 

Friday, December 30th - FINALE  7 to 9 pm Join us as we welcome Vince Garza to the Main Gallery for a free piano concert featuring seasonal tunes and his own improvisation. BYOB and enjoy one last evening of the Member Show as we listen to the delightful music.

Charcoal drawing Wednesday, Nov 30th 5:30-8:30pm Charcoal is a fundamental art medium. Local artist Jeri Sparks will take you through the basics of charcoal drawing as you create your own lovely piece. Cost is $45 and includes instruction and materials. Scratch Art   Wednesday, Dec 14   6:30-8:30pm  Fun and easy class with Diane Jennings - cost is $10  Register with the Art Center 319-372-3996
