Ida Carolyn Dischler, 82 years, of Iowa City, Iowa, formerly of the Lee County area died Sunday, July 14, 2024 at UI Health Care Medical Center Downtown, Iowa City, Iowa. She was born April 25, 1942 at Keltner, Missouri, the daughter of Arthur K. and Ina F. (Adams) Boston. On October 22, 1975, she married Arnold E. Dischler at Quincy, Illinois. He survives.
She graduated from Clearmont High School, Clearmont, Missouri in 1960. She received her practical nurse diploma from Clarinda Community College, which is now Iowa Western Community College in 1965. She moved from Page County to the Lee County area in 1975 and moved to Iowa City in 2022. She retired as a Licensed Practical Nurse, working for the State of Iowa in Clarinda Mental Health Institute and Mt. Pleasant MHI, for a total of 35 years.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Arnold Dischler, of Iowa City, Iowa; one son Loyal Jay Dischler, of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison. Funeral services will follow 1:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, with Pastor Les Featheringill officiating. Burial will be at the St. Paul’s Evangelical Cemetery, Donnellson, Iowa. A memorial has been established for the PAW Animal Shelter, contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison.
