HANCOCK COUNTY - The Hancock County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at approximately 9:50 a.m.
Hancock County 911 received a report of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of County Road 900 North and County Road 1900 East, located just east of Basco, Illinois.
A 2015 Honda SUV, driven by Misty L. Linski of Basco, was traveling eastbound on County Road 900 North when the vehicle reportedly crossed the center line and collided head-on with a westbound vehicle driven by Donna Hurt, also of Basco.

Misty Linski was transported to Carthage Memorial Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. A male juvenile passenger in Linski's vehicle sustained serious injuries and was transported to Blessing Hospital in Quincy, then later transferred to a hospital in Springfield for further treatment. Another passenger in the vehicle, Scott Webb of Basco, was transported to Blessing Hospital with moderate injuries.
Hurt and her passenger, a female juvenile-both of Basco, were transported to Blessing Hospital and were later released.
Preliminary investigation indicates that none of the occupants in the Linski vehicle were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Both Donna Hurt and the juvenile passenger in her vehicle were properly restrained.
The incident remains under investigation by the Hancock County Sheriff's Office. No additional details are available.
