Bendlage named 1st Team All-State

Freshman Myers gets honorable mention all-state, Morrison all-district

FORT MADISON - Holy Trinity junior Mary Kate Bendlage was a first-team selection on the Iowa Girls Coaches Association Class 1A all-state volleyball teams announced Tuesday.
Teammate Presley Myers, a freshman, was an honorable-mention selection.
Bendlage led the Crusaders with 369 kills and 374 digs. She also had 47 blocks and was a 93.6 percent server.
Myers was second on the team with 307 kills and led the Crusaders with 82 blocks. She had 52 digs and was a 94.4 percent server.
Bendlage, Myers and teammate Brooke Mueller were named to the Class 1A Southeast all-district team on Monday.
Mueller, a senior, had 168 kills and 332 digs. She had 25 blocks and a team-high 76 service aces, leading the Crusaders in serving at 95.6 percent.
Central Lee’s Makayla Morrison was named to the Class 3A Southeast all-district team. Morrison led the Hawks with 291 kills and was second on the team with 296 digs. She was the team’s best server at 100 percent.
Notre Dame’s Gabby Deery was named the Class 1A player of the year. Notre Dame’s Mike Davis was named the Southeast district coach of the year.
